{MOM UNIFORM} MODERN COCKTAIL

Modern Cocktailpunch it up with glam

Auctions, benefits, a night out with your honey.  They all call for cocktail attire.  This is my Modern Cocktail uniform.  I love separates because it allows greater versatility for me.  It isn’t often I am running to school pick-up in a LBD, but I could throw on a simple silk top with jeans and not look out of place.

The rules for this uniform are simple.  The classic black trouser, with a long hem, is the base for this look.  Pair it with a black silk top and sexy black pumps.  Yes, that’s right.  Black on black on black.  Punch it up with glam accessories such as an over the top clutch and bold, layered necklaces.  {You might already have all the pieces in your closet.}

Give it try on date night or for your next event.  Worried? Don’t!  You will love it.  Haters be warned because you are too {damn} classy!

{1// Chloe black trousers 2//Madewell silk top 3//Gianvito Rossi Satin-trimmed Pumps 4//Red Valentino Clutch}

PS.  The above items are “dream” selections for my closet.  I do own black trousers, a silk top, black pumps, and a glittery clutch.  Just not these gorgeous pieces.  It all still works!

BACK TO SCHOOL: MOM UNIFORM

Mom needs a new back to school outfit too!  Right?  After a summer’s worth of cut-offs, breezy tank tops and flip flops, I am ready to dive into fall as well.  September is usually gorgeous here in Seattle, so it isn’t quite time to break out fall sweaters and boots.  I would love to walk my boys to school that first day in this outfit.  Colorful shorts, black flats and a loose fitting blazer.  I would wear a tank under to keep it casual.  {Come day two, you will most likely find me in workout gear and running shoes.}  I hope you are all geared up for school.  I am not sure I am. The pace will quicken, the stress will increase, and bedtimes will be earlier.  I am going to try and hold on to summer as long as I can.  After all, they are only kids once!!  Good luck to all of you and your kids!  xoxo denise

A POP OF NEON

Thursday, August 1st, 2013

Well, well well.  Neon is back again.  Have you found yourself asking, “Am I too old for this?”  There is a fine line between dressing on-trend and dressing like a teenager.  I do love neon.  In the late 80’s, I had the most amazing pair of neon pink, lace fingerless gloves.  [Seriously, right?]  Today, I keep the neon as pops of color on clothing and accessories.  Just enough to say, “I can still rock it.”  If you really like a trend, find a way to subtly work into your wardrobe.  Have fun and be brave.

SIMPLE PUMP+SEXY ANKLE STRAP

c700x700

A simple pump with a sexy ankle strap.  Oh, how I love thee.  I don’t currently own a pair, but I seem to be pinning this style over and over and over again!  They are perfect for summer.  You could wear them with a flirty skirt or a pair of silk shorts.  I want to wear them with a pair of cut off jeans.  The perfect mix of glamor and edge.  The camouflage pair by Steve Madden [#3] are calling my name, but they are all equally awesome.

Which pair are your favorite?

layered bracelets by juneheartsfashion

Summer tanks and maxi dresses are calling out to be accessorized.  There is nothing better than wearing simple earrings and a stacked wrist!  I love that you can layer many kinds of bracelets together.  Mix and match.  The more the better.  Scrounge around in your drawers and jewelry boxes and find bracelets that you haven’t worn in a long time.  Play with different combinations until you find one you like.  The stack can change with your mood or your outfit.  It is all about having fun.  Go for it.
Feeling inspired?  Snap a pic and Instagram your stacked wrist.  [Tag me. @seattlejune]

road trip

road trip by juneheartsfashion

Road tripping this weekend?  Me too!  Comfort is key, but you need to look presentable once you arrive at your destination.  Easy, cozy pieces [like yogo studio pants and a tissue tee] are essential for comfort.  Throw on a few accessories and a jean jacket and you are good to go!  Classic Chuck Taylors are casual cool and practical
Team Thomas is headed to the Canadian Gulf Islands.  I can’t wait!  [Look for out and about posts next week.]
Where are you headed for the long weekend?

Where is June? meets Oh Joy!

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013
Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Joy Cho, from Oh Joy! I read her blog every day and I am blown away by her creativity and talent.  Not surprisingly, she was warm, kind, and damn right cute!  Her blog represents her perfectly.
Joy was hosting an event at the Seattle [Downtown] Anthropologie to celebrate the opening of their one and only, brick-and-mortar Petites Shop.  Petite sections are usually miniscule.  Anthropologie went all out.  Jeans, dresses, tops, jackets!  The choices are endless.  [This girl has found her home away from home!]  Champagne cocktails, shopping, and treats from Ballard’s Hot Cakes made for a great night out.
PS.  Petite girls can rule the world!
I didn’t pack along my big girl camera, so the three images above were snapped with my iPhone.  The beautiful images below were taken by Phil Chester Photography.

seattle spring

seattle spring by juneheartsfashion

A Seattle spring day.  We can have rain, hail, gloom, and glorious sunbreaks all within the matter of a few hours.  Dressing for this unpredictable weather is a bear.  Layers remain the key, but the fleece and down give way to lighter pieces.
I am totally crushing on the idea of a bright [and not too expensive] raincoat.  The hood is key for school runs, errands and baseball games.  It is a total bummer to get caught in a downpour with no coverage.  Around here, I could wear this outfit everyday.

mom uniform:: camo fun

mom uniform:: camo fun by juneheartsfashion

Spring in Seattle is not warm.  However, it is time to ditch the puffy jacket and tall boots.   Why not have a little fun while you are at it?
I will admit.  This girl is a total sucker for camouflage.  Lately I have been wearing: skinny jeans, a feminine top, and a camo jacket, light colored booties, and a fun colorful clutch.
How would you fit camouflage into your spring wardrobe?

{Need another mom uniform?  Try this or this.}

which one?

Friday, March 22nd, 2013

I may have gone on an unplanned spring shopping spree yesterday.  I purchased two pairs of sandals.  Since they are basically the same shoe – I should only keep one!  I can’t decide.  Really loving both of them.  I thought maybe you could help?  I plan to wear them with skirts, shorts, and cuffed jeans.

A few details…
Matiko:  insanely comfortable, extremely well made, zipper in back with leather tassel. Considerably more expensive.  I love that they are unique!

Steve Madden:  comfortable, ankle strap is much thinner, classic colors.    I love that they are simple and easy to wear with just about anything.

So, what do you think?
{Bring on spring.}
