I have a hair appointment today. This week I realized my hair was beyond the point of just having a bad hair day. My go-to-look the past few weeks has been a wide brimmed hat. I’ve decided after quite a few years of fairly long hair, it is time for a change.
Today I am heading in for a cut, but what I really want is pastel purple hair. No, really. Ever since Nicole Ritchie rocked a purple bob in early Spring, I cannot shake this unbelievable desire to have purple hair! I was so damn straight laced in high school and college, I didn’t dare experiment with colored hair. {Note to my 20 year-old self. Loosen up, don’t take everything so seriously, and live a little.} Do I dare go there at forty? Could I say it? Purple hair. Don’t care. Oh, I desperately want to say YES!
Could I, as brunette, even achieve this color? What would it take? I also wonder if my skin tone would look washed out with this color. I wore a platinum wig on Halloween and it looked dreadful. Who can answer these very important questions for me?
What do you think? Purple hair?
Any beauty risks you are thinking about taking? Oh, please share!

I personally think that all the age limitation stuff is bullshit. Why not have purple hair when you’re in your 40’s? Where did these stupid, limiting rules come from? I didn’t make them, you didn’t make them. I think the best thing any of us can do as we get older is to take risks, stay open and live with more joy and freedom, while we accept more and more responsibilities. At the end of the day it’s a hair color….Do you want to look back when you’re 60 and think the same thing your’e thinking now about your 20’s? Go Gurl!!!! Give them something to talk about.

That is exactly what I wanted to write. I 100% agree that we didn’t make the rules about age and we sure don’t need to follow them. I just couldn’t find the right words! Boom, you just did.

What the heck? If you don’t like it, you can dye it back brown.
I am also debating the trend. I talked to my caretaker of hair about this a few times. to get purple or pink you have to first bleach. So going back is a little more difficult however if you are cutting it short it won’t be that long of a time before it grows out 🙂 go for it and can’t wait to see the results!

for me, I freak out if my hair is not highlighted the way i usually get it. but i always admire people who can take risks with their hair!!!
