Ready Steady Go

Twenty fourteen.  How did that happen?  While I am not one for resolutions, a new year is the beginning of endless possibilities.  To start anew.  No time to worry about yesterday.  No guilt, just a hope for all things new, creative, lovely, inspiring, simple, meaningful and fun.

Things I would love in 2014:

dates with my yoga mat, road trips, gelato in Italy, more flossing, brunch with girlfriends, happy boys, drinks around a campfire, challenging hikes on snowshoes, quiet moments to dream, the perfect bloody mary, playing a song on my guitar, visits to familiar places and to places I have only dreamed of seeing, homemade gnocchi, parents’ night(s) out, a day at the beach, something inspiring to read, field trips in my gorgeous city, strong arms and a toned tummy.

{The last one is hold over from 2013.  If anything, I am consistent.}

Happy New Year!

invest wisely.
I am spending a whole week with my boys.  No school, no homework, and no schedule.  [Unfortunately no beach, but we will make the best of it!]  It is wonderful change of pace for all us!  Spring Break for life.

hello november.

November is [somehow] upon us.  I am still sneaking Halloween candy from my kids’ stash and yet have Christmas in the back of my head.  The calendar indicates lots of extra time with my kids [no school and 1/2 days are scattered throughout the month] and an end to fall sports schedules.  Forecasts predict cooler, wet weather.  I hope to share with you- in the next few weeks -ideas to stay sane and live creatively.  We should all be able to find time to share good meals, take care of our bodies, and love those around us-abundantly.

hello, november.  happy to greet you again.

Exactly, right?
This quote is poignant to me.  You can shine during life’s moments of frustration or you can let it get the best of you [and bring out the worst].  I think what it really comes down to is how do you deal with events out of your control.  Big or small, these are the moments that test us.
We are facing a very soggy Halloween Night.  With any luck it will let up and the kids can have a dry night of fun.  But most likely it will be pouring.  My boys are ecstatic about the day.  I have no control over the weather.  So, I will pull on my Hunter boots, zip up my North Face shell, grab the lantern and brave the night with them.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way she handles a rainy day.

pass it along

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012
Ever have a cluster of days that make you feel not so great about yourself?  Something crawls into your head and you just can’t shake it.  You might find yourself spending extra minutes in front of the mirror examining all of your imperfections and beating yourself about this or that.  Work harder, drink more water, wear moisturizer, find a better shampoo, get a haircut.

My mantra today, this week, this month.  You are beautiful, pass it along.

[Be gentle with your spirit and give yourself a break.  Remind someone else of her beauty.  She may have forgotten.]
