in-the-details-no-22 | Where is June?

I’m so happy it is Friday!  This week seemed exceptionally long, but I did accomplish quite a bit.  Finishing a few projects that have been lingering always feels good.  Fall officially starts next week, but I can already feel it in the air.  I swapped out my closet and I am ready for long sleeves and boots.  What are you up to this weekend?

A few things that inspire and interest me this week:

1.  The epitome of cool.  This snap shot of Lauren Hutton feels like it could have been taken on the streets of NY this week.

2. This salad sounds so delicious.  If peaches are out of season, I’m thinking you could swap pears in their place.

3.  Looking for something different to do in Seattle?  The Smith Tower has been re-imagined with a general store and a speak-easy bar.  Great views of the city in a historical building.

4.  These jeans.  Is 42 too old for rips and frays?  I say, no.

5.  Colder weather is on its way.  Time to cuddle up and read.  How perfect is this blanket?

6.  A positive message each and every morning.  Everyone could use a friendly bathmat.

8.  A modern farmhouse in Missouri.  This family knows how to dwell well.

And just like that it is Friday again!  Amen, to that.  I am thinking that every work/school week should be 4 days.  So much better!  Little Man is off to a camp out with Dad this weekend, so it’s just me and Big W.  It is so nice to have a little time one-on-one with my kids.  The weather is going to be awesome in Seattle, so I have a feeling it’s going to be a great couple of days.

A few things that inspire and interest me this week:

1.  Today is National Donut Day!  Go ahead and splurge.

2.  Love these nails and the play with negative space.

3.  Oh. My. Gosh.  I am obsessed with this vanity.  I will be eternally grateful to anyone that can help me find the source!

4.  Summer sandals.  This color way would look awesome with a tan.

5.  Warmer weather is begging you to spend hours outside.  These lounge chairs totally up the patio game.

And some how it is Memorial Day weekend.  The boys have exactly one month until summer break begins.  I think we might JUST make it!  I hope you have something planned for the long weekend.  We are spending time near the river in the woods.  Food, wine and babies!  I look forward to time holding my two month old nephew, while my unruly children shoot BB guns and throw rocks in the river for hours!

A collection that inspires and interests me this week:

1. Anjelica Houston and friend circa 1971.  Their patriotic style is everything.  I feel this picture could have been taken today!

2.  This garden mint candle fills the room with the most lovely scent almost instantly.

3.  My birthday is months away, but this rose gold bracelet will be on the top of the list.  It is even better in person!

4.  The 5 piece french wardrobe. A basic list, but so fantastic.

in the details no 18 | Where is June?

Not sure how we are mid-way through January, but we are on the downhill slide into February.  The beginning of a new year always brings renewed desire for creativity.  I’m always looking.  We are about to tackle a bathroom remodel, so I’m back on the hunt for inspiration in design.  I’m also facing swim suit shopping in my near future.  Pretty sure trying on swim suits can, and should be, classified a form of torture for middle aged women.  {More on that FUN topic in the near future!}  What are you up to this weekend?  Our town is Seahawk crazy again!  Hoping for a big win on Sunday.

Here is what has me inspired and interested this week:

2.  An ingenious way to hang and display the most amazing lights!  {Emily Hendrson is magic.}

3.  Kind of digging the neutral woven chair.  I think I have a chair/lust problem.

4.  A bright rug.  It would brighten any entry way or office!

5.  On to List #2 of The 52 Lists Project.  {List your favorite characters from books and movies.}

6.  Everyone is on a cleanse and all I can think about is doughnuts!

7.  Street Style.  Long coat, ripped faded denim, oxfords.

In the Details No 17 | Where is June?

I feel it.  The anticipation that begins to build as the holidays approach.  In the last couple of years I have dreaded the season {which is extremely unlike me}, but this year I feel energized by the thought of spending time with family and friends, building memories with my boys, and the festivities that come between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.  In the weeks to come I hope to share that excitement with you!

Things that inspire and interest me this week, heavily influenced by Buenos Aires:

1.  A simple fall place setting.

in the details no 16 | Where is June?

I am so, SO excited for the weekend.  I love to watch my boys prep for Halloween night.  The night is really not my favorite, but they are totally into it and seeing them happy is always a good thing.  I had not allowed mini-sized candy into my house until this week.  And for good reason!  Who can resist a Snickers bar?  Not me, obviously.  Sunday afternoon we are Buenos Aires bound.  {Whaa?}  One whole week of exploring the South American city, eating steak, drinking Malbec, and maybe a little hiking and dancing the Tango thrown in for good measure.  I won’t be posting here on the blog next week, but please follow my trip and adventure on Instagram.  {@seattlejune}

Haircut follow up:  You know when you go on a blind date and the minute you meet him you instantly know he is “the one”?!  Yep, pretty much the same thing with my new stylist.

A round-up of things that inspire and interest me this week:

1. Anyone been to Buenos Aires?  We would love any recommendations.

2.  To know me is to know I am obsessed with cross-body bags.  The fringe on this bag is everything!

3.  Do you follow Garance?  We would be best friends if I lived in NYC.  Her new book is out this week.

4.  To travel is to live.

5.  First item to go on my holiday wish list:  these gloves.

6.  Peanut Butter Crispy Bars.  That’s all.

7.  A large graphic print fills a room with interest.

In the Details No 15 | Where is June?

What do you have planned for the weekend?  I am looking forward to taking the kids to get pumpkins.  Our beloved farm is open again and so we are making the trek for pumpkins, mini doughnuts and cider!  I couldn’t be happier!  Little Man wants to make cut-out sugar cookies, so I will dig up the fall cookie cutters and whip up the dough today.  I love baking with the boys.

A collection of things that inspire and interest me this week:

1. This room screams cozy and comfortable.  Those woven IKEA poufs are pretty awesome and totally affordable.

2.  Stacks of baskets.  Wouldn’t these be great for blankets?  Or possibly a smaller one to hold TP in the bathroom?

3.  If you have tape and spray paint, you can start and complete this pumpkin DIY in no time!

4.  OMFG!  I am still obsessed with having a neon light somewhere in my house.

5.  A Dia de los Muertos inspired skull candy bowl is spot-on!  {And only $12}

6.  Chocolate Chip Cookie Jars.  They are perfect!

7.  Hoping this little white jacket fits perfectly.

PS//  I had to reschedule my hair appointment.  Getting it cut this week.  I will update accordingly.  xoxo

in the details no 14 | Where is June?

It has been such a busy and exciting week.  New things on the horizon for me and it is thrilling to be challenging myself in different ways.  We are never to old to push ourselves.  To move outside our comfort zones.  That is when great things happen.

And in super important news…….

I am getting my haircut next week by a new stylist.  It is kind of like going on a blind date, isn’t it?  One is so full of hope and praying that “this is the one”!  Wish me luck.  You know how these things can go.

A collection of things that inspire and interest me this week:
