in-the-details-no-26 | WHERE IS JUNE?

A giant storm is heading toward us.  The rain has already arrived and the wind is set to hit later today.  If we are lucky enough to keep our power, it will be a cozy weekend.  The boys want to make Halloween cookies and I want a big pot of soup.  Stay dry, stay safe and give your little ones an extra long hug.  Life is precious.

Here a few things that interest and inspire me this week:

1. A DIY costume that’s too sweet for words!  If only I was willing to “make” a costume.  {Although I can’t wait until Big W’s costume arrives in the mail!}

2.  The most amazing geode drawer pulls.  How amazing would these look on a single drawer bedside table?

3.  Polo Beach, Maui.  The sand, and a Mai Tai, and ME in only 21 days {but who’s counting!}

4.  I am loving the illustrations by Mari Andrew every Friday on Cup of Jo.

5.  A slouchy beanie, a rainy day necessity!  I just found the perfect one…and bought it in two colors.  Soft {not itchy} and only $25.

6.  Stormy weather calls for warm mini pretzels.

7.  How cool is this IKEA hack?  It’s a slatted bed base used as office storage.  Brilliant!

in-the-details-no-25 | WHERE IS JUNE?

This week was an absolute blur. I worked Monday – Thursday {more on that in an upcoming post} and suddenly it’s Friday.  The forecast shows rain all weekend, so it seems we are entering our hibernation mode.  {At least I will be.}  Time to break out that happy light!  Are you going hunting for the great pumpkin this weekend?  It is that time of year!

Here are a few things that inspire or interest me this week:

1. Central Park.  Fall.  I mean.

2. I read this book in two days.  I couldn’t put it down.  I HIGHLY recommend Relativity by Antonia Hayes.

3.  My bedroom is desperately calling for a little TLC.  The simplicity of this room is striking.

4.  Just added this new rug to our family room.  We love it.  And now Target is having a sale on rugs….get one!

5.  These awesome lights would look great in a kids room or in an office.

6.  Popsicle stained lips.  Right on. Ordering this lipstick today in Jam.

7.  Pajamas for a night out?  Why not!  A few accessories and velvet shoes and you are good to go.

in-the-details-no-23 | Where is June?

Giddy up- it’s Friday!  I’m looking forward to this first fall weekend.  Little Man is playing in his first flag football game of the season on Saturday.  We are hoping he will pull a flag this year.  Man, I love that kid!  Hope you have great things planned for yourself and your family.

Here a few things that inspired and interested me this week:

1. Oh, these black houses in Iceland have me Googling “Best Exterior Black Paint Colors”.

2.  An ingenious way to store/display heels.

3.  Call me old fashioned, but I like my earphones.  Obviously I didn’t just by the iPhone 7.  Instead, picked up these gold ear buds and they are AMAZING!

4.  Clogs with socks?  Totally PNW right there, but I kind of love it.  Totally out side my comfort zone-so I think I’m going to try it.

5.  This side shelf lamp would be perfect in a guest room.  Wish we had one in our house.

6.  Bomber jackets of my dreams.  Seriously.

in-the-details-no-22 | Where is June?

I’m so happy it is Friday!  This week seemed exceptionally long, but I did accomplish quite a bit.  Finishing a few projects that have been lingering always feels good.  Fall officially starts next week, but I can already feel it in the air.  I swapped out my closet and I am ready for long sleeves and boots.  What are you up to this weekend?

A few things that inspire and interest me this week:

1.  The epitome of cool.  This snap shot of Lauren Hutton feels like it could have been taken on the streets of NY this week.

2. This salad sounds so delicious.  If peaches are out of season, I’m thinking you could swap pears in their place.

3.  Looking for something different to do in Seattle?  The Smith Tower has been re-imagined with a general store and a speak-easy bar.  Great views of the city in a historical building.

4.  These jeans.  Is 42 too old for rips and frays?  I say, no.

5.  Colder weather is on its way.  Time to cuddle up and read.  How perfect is this blanket?

6.  A positive message each and every morning.  Everyone could use a friendly bathmat.

And just like that it is Friday again!  Amen, to that.  I am thinking that every work/school week should be 4 days.  So much better!  Little Man is off to a camp out with Dad this weekend, so it’s just me and Big W.  It is so nice to have a little time one-on-one with my kids.  The weather is going to be awesome in Seattle, so I have a feeling it’s going to be a great couple of days.

Not sure how we are mid-way through January, but we are on the downhill slide into February.  The beginning of a new year always brings renewed desire for creativity.  I’m always looking.  We are about to tackle a bathroom remodel, so I’m back on the hunt for inspiration in design.  I’m also facing swim suit shopping in my near future.  Pretty sure trying on swim suits can, and should be, classified a form of torture for middle aged women.  {More on that FUN topic in the near future!}  What are you up to this weekend?  Our town is Seahawk crazy again!  Hoping for a big win on Sunday.
